The virus is spreading – and no one can stop it

A virus that spreads

Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) returns to Minnesota from a business trip to Hong Kong, two days later she is dead.

Doctors tell her shocked husband (Matt Damon) that they have no idea what killed her. Soon, many others begin to show the same symptoms, and a global pandemic explodes.

Time is short and doctors must quickly find the cause and cure for the virus before it is too late. Contagion has a large ensemble of fantastic actors but is unfortunately without a strong script that can highlight the talent that exists.

Incredibly relevant today

If the characters and script had been more well thought out, Contagion would probably have been the most worth seeing the film this year, even if it came out in 2011, with the spread of the Coronavirus.

No matter how interesting the topic of an unknown virus that spreads like wildfire throughout the world, one can not ignore the film’s shortcomings.

The characters in the film are difficult to relate to and the dialogue does not make it easy for the actors to feel credible.

Should you watch the movie?

However, there are aspects that I think emphasize small grains of gold, such as the sterile and natural environments that make the film stand out from the crowd.

The relatively simple way you have chosen to film and light up the film adds a realism that can be beneficial. Contagion can be worth seeing just because of the subject, but if you are expecting a great film with a lot of suspense and drama, I recommend looking further into the film collection.
